About Us
Northern Arborists has been in business since 1980 Our home base is located in Lake Elmo, Minnesota (just east of St. Paul) and we service both residential and commercial properties within the Twin Cities and neighboring areas. The owner, Gary Wemeier is on site for most jobs and provides follow up consultation to ensure your satisfaction is met. Clean-up is always provided.
Our goal is to promote and educate our customers in responsible and quality tree care. Our preference is to maintain ongoing relationships with our clients. In this way we are able to provide continuous tree care to ensure lasting health and beauty for your trees.
If you choose Northern Arborists, you can expect professional services from qualified staff. As International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) certified arborists, all of our staff attend workshops, seminars and conferences regularly to stay current in arboricultural practices and techniques. We also have opportunities to teach through our local chapter - Minnesota Society of Arboriculture (MSA). We follow ANSI A300 Pruning Standards and ANSI Z1331.1 Safety Standards.
Staff Profiles
Gary Wemeier, owner/arborist, established Northern Arborists in 1980. Gary is a University of Minnesota graduate, with a BS degree in Forestry. He has 30 years of experience in the field of arboriculture.

Pierce Wasmund, senior arborist. Pierce is a University of Minnesota graduate, with a BS degree in Urban Forestry. He has 13 years of arboriculture experience.

Harry Gilby, arborist. Harry is a Paul Smith’s College and Rutgers University graduate with a BS degree in Forestry. He has 12 years of arboriculture experience.
