Root Collar Inspections/Girdling Root Correction

Stem Girdling Roots (SGRs) are a hidden but serious problem affecting many trees. Improper planting depth (too deep) and a failure to correct for issues at planting can lead to encircling and girdling roots, stunting, and killing trees. Symptoms often begin 5-20 years from planting.

We use specialized air tools (AirSpade) to excavate the soil around the trunk and root flare without root damage. If issues are caught in time, encircling and girdling roots can be removed, and planting depth corrected.

Proper planting depth and practices avoid root issues from the beginning.

ISA Tree Risk Assessment Qualified Arborist on staff. We can provide Level II Tree Risk Assessments with documentation when necessary or requested, as well as implement recommended risk mitigation options. This is an internationally standardized format for assessing and quantifying tree risk.
